My name is Heather. Welcome to my menagerie. These are my people, this is my place, and these are my playmates. My vision has always been to make a place where we can share the joy of light, of love, of life… And its just so been so painful I’ve been delayed many more years than I thought I would be! UNTIL NOW.

In 2020 I had my first and only child and learned what it meant to invest in a newborn shoot, annual family photos, and try to keep up with business headshots, branding photos, documentary work.

In 2025 we saw AI take over and now suddenly its 100% normal and expected to use Artificial Intelligence even to bypass professional photography altogether. Except it really isn’t. 

For those of us who either refuse to hand the reins to beast machinery or at least have practiced with it enough to know it can’t really do what it claims to do, not all the time at least (we crave authenticity). For those of us who don’t want to upload our pictures into the MACHINE and or would never trust it with our precious children. For those of us who just feel ICKY when we use it, we photographers are still here, capturing and honoring the family vessel. For the love, for the joy, for the legacy.

If I have the honor of capturing your family I make sure I check in with you about what images you want the most so we make sure to get what’s important to you. I make sure you feel confident, comfortable, and that you look your best and look how you want to look in your images. We work on posing and flattering all subjects. I prefer a light touch or an undetectable edit so that no overcooked editing takes away from the beauty of each image. I was trained at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and by many professional mentors in online academies since then. My style is flattering, funny, full of love and laughter, and I like to think, “JOY.”

What I love most about being a photographer is capturing the unexpected, and the freedom to follow the light as it envelopes you, a rare and unique subject. And as it says in our business name, we get an exhilarating thrill in capturing LOVE in our images. It’s what we are all here for.

The way I see it, every family needs a photographer, whether it’s in house (in family) or a go-to, trusted professional. The milestones of life are consistently happening, and these milestones are worth capturing! Nearly everyone has a camera in their pocket these days. But we have made this job our total focus. We know that when you hire us, we can make beautiful images that you couldn’t make on your own. And we do it with a lot of love.

I run my businesses under the umbrella of 49 Designs, an Alaska-based media production company in the world since 2006.
